Wan Zhen'er Comes to the Modern World to Teach

In the twenty-third year of the Chenghua era of the Ming dynasty, Wan Zhen'er dies of illness.

When she opens her eyes again, she hasn't gone to the underworld or been reborn into the imperial harem. Instead, she has landed in the living room of a family in the twenty-first century.

The first thing she sees is a TV drama, The Story of Consort Wan. The woman onscreen is vicious and cruel, old and ugly.

She isn't angry. In fact, she smiles.

So this is how later generations see her.

Before long, she realizes that women in this era have it much worse than she did.

After getting married, they have to work, raise children, do housework, serve their parents-in-law, and worry about their husbands cheating.

It's normal for their husbands not to come home, and even when they do, they just stare at their phones.

These women are clearly a hundred times freer than the imperial consorts of the Ming dynasty, yet they've turned their lives into another kind of cold palace.

Wan Zhen'er decides to open a school.

She'll teach women how to "keep a man's heart."

But everyone who takes her class says it isn't about teaching women to keep a man's heart at all. It's about teaching women to become the apple of their own hearts.
