Beachcombing: My Catch Comes with Traits

[Shore gathering + fishing + System + making a fortune + laid-back life + ocean ranch + family life]

Lu Guanchao spent six whole years grinding away in the big city.

His salary kept climbing, his hair kept thinning, and the number in his bank account kept growing, but the first thing he did every morning was still attend meetings, check the markets, and revise proposals.

Finally, after working overtime for seventy-two hours straight, he quit.

He returned to his seaside hometown, fixed up his ancestral house, spent time with his parents, and enjoyed the sea breeze, ready to live an unambitious life as a laid-back fisherman.

Who could have guessed that on his very first day back in the village, he would unexpectedly gain the ability to see information about everything in the ocean?

[Wild green crab: 1.3 jin, worth 430 yuan.]

[Premium abalone: Hidden in the reef cave to the left, worth 1,280 yuan.]

[Chinese brocade lobster: 3.6 jin, recommended for immediate capture.]

Others relied on experience when gathering seafood along the shore.

Lu Guanchao simply looked up the answers.

Others came back with a bucket of clams after low tide. He hauled in a basket of green crabs.

Others spent half a day at sea without catching a fish. He landed one after another, with grouper, yellow croaker, and tuna practically leaping onto his line.

Before long, he had bought a fishing boat, opened a seafood shop, leased the bay, and built an ocean ranch.

The once-declining fishing village also came alive again thanks to Lu Guanchao.

Years later, during an interview with a reporter, he was asked:

“Mr. Lu, how did you build the world’s largest ocean ranch?”

Lu Guanchao reclined in a bamboo chair in his courtyard and glanced at the tide.

“I’ll tell you later. The tide’s about to go out, and I have to dig for razor clams first.”
