The Secrets of Fog City: The Impostors Are Coming

[Steampunk + Cthulhu + Occult Mystery + Progression Through Ranks + Power Comes at a Cost + Impostors on the Prowl]

[What happens when impostors invade a Western fantasy world of Cthulhu? Could it get even more insane?]

When Lu Chen, a history graduate student, opened his eyes, he found himself a corpse that had been lying in the morgue of the Royal Academy in Fog City for three days.

The autopsy report confirmed that he was dead, but he was clearly still alive. The only warning he found after transmigrating was this:

“Do not answer to your own name during the school anniversary roll call.”

To avoid being taken into permanent custody by the Bureau of Investigation, Lu Chen must solve the original owner’s death within twenty-one days and stop a cult from using the names and breaths of everyone at the school to summon an entity from the deep.

His only recourse is the [Blank Grimoire], a book capable of copying, annotating, and rearranging forbidden pages.

It can unravel rules and borrow power, but never for free. Every time Lu Chen uses its power, another strange voice appears in his mind. The closer he gets to the truth, the less certain he is whether the one thinking is Lu Chen, Ashley, or the Grimoire.

Even more terrifying, a group of “impostors” has begun appearing in Fog City.

They have the right memories and play their lives flawlessly, but they have long since lost all sense of self. Whom have they replaced, and who will they replace next?

Can this world, already teeming with supernatural powers capable of driving people mad, become even more insane?
