War of Resistance: My Merit Points Shop

Transmigration | War of Resistance | System Shop | A Crooked Merchant's Ways | Play the pig to eat the tiger | Growth Story

In 1937, Li Mancang, a burned-out office worker, opens his eyes on a battlefield in the Taihang Mountains. The roof beams glow red with fire, and across from him are Japanese soldiers holding bayonets. Worse still, he can barely hold a gun steady. All he ever learned in the modern world was how to make PowerPoint slides.

Just when all seems lost, a Battle Merit Shop opens in his mind. Its rules are simple and brutal: kill one Japanese soldier, earn five points of battle merit. But the shopkeeper is a crooked old merchant: limited stock, inflated prices, and no credit. He hounds you like a debt collector. Even when Li Mancang borrows two rolls of bandages to save Dakui, the shopkeeper insists on calculating the interest first.

Can't fight a war? Easy. Blueprints, ammunition, grenade launchers: if you have enough battle merit, they're yours. The merchant may be crooked, but he really can turn you from someone who trembles just pulling the trigger into a pillar of strength.

So Li Mancang, along with Dakui, whom he saved from death, and Erdan, whose archery is uncanny, starts with seven men and seven rifles, raiding the enemy and burning their grain stores. From there, they take blockhouses, blow up bridge foundations, and tear through blockades, eventually forging an independent battalion in the Taihang Mountains that no one dares underestimate.

Amid the smoke of war, he knows only one thing for certain: he doesn't know how many more years the fighting will last, but every brother who follows him must make it through the night alive, without a single one left behind.
