The Shennong Mist: The Ancient Era

[No System · Tribal Farming | Transmigrated Infrastructure-Building | Starting from Scratch | Lighthearted]

Programmer Chu wakes up in the Stone Age, shirtless and squatting on a riverbank, facing a group of primitive people prodding him with bone spears.

No System, no status screen, just two pieces of flint in his pocket.

He decides to keep a fire going first. He can worry about anything else once he's survived. He drills wood for fire, builds a stove, weaves fish traps, and dries fish. He teaches the tribe to keep watch at night, count, set rules, and block the north wind. Once the group has recovered from hunger and cold, he turns his attention to the wild valley across the river that nobody dares to touch.

He clears the land, sows seeds, waters them, and learns to recognize the seedlings. When rows of green shoots appear on the barren slope, all the nearby tribes come to look. When enemies arrive, he teaches his people to twist hemp rope and sharpen slender spears. He shows the would-be grain thieves what they're up against by sending a javelin flying with a spear-thrower. Before winter arrives, he sets his sights on the two wild piglets in their pen.

Others rely on hunting and leave their fate to the weather. He is determined to grow, crop by crop, the foundation that will give his tribe a place to call home.

What stands in his way has never been untamable beasts, but endless work and more mouths than he can feed. Yet as long as the fire stays lit, the seedlings stand tall, and the people stick together, they can keep making progress day by day.

Nüwa created people from clay. With a pot, a handful of seeds, and a length of rope, he will grow a home from scratch in the Stone Age.
