In the seventh year of Chongzhen, the Jianzhou forces broke through the passes and invaded the realm. Ning Zhiyuan, a squad leader in the Datong garrison, died in a fortress, only to have his soul possessed by a namesake from the future and be reborn.
At the same time, an eerie green fissure split open the sky above the northern frontier, and countless prehistoric dinosaurs fell from the heavens. In the face of these colossal beasts, cavalry and armored soldiers were no more than weeds. The borderlands became a living hell in an instant. In this desperate situation, Ning Zhiyuan activated the “Mark” System in his left arm. Crafting, taming dragons, leveling up: the game mechanics he knew by heart became his only way to survive in this chaotic age.
Taking eight surviving soldiers into the mountains, he used his experience to bring down “Gale,” a lame velociraptor, and tame “Whistler,” a parasaurolophus, as a sentry. Using a cave as his base, he gathered refugees, cleared land and grew grain, and forged bows and arrows. With dinosaurs circling all around, he managed to establish a foothold.
As columns of light kept appearing in the wilderness, bringing forth giant beasts; as an eerie green glow spread over the ancient town at the foot of the mountain; and as fleeing Jianzhou soldiers roamed the woods, danger closed in from every direction. Ning Zhiyuan set his sights on the even mightier triceratops and began building a dinosaur army, one step at a time. In an apocalypse where the dynasty was collapsing, he led a band of ordinary survivors, using dragons as soldiers and the mountains as their stronghold, fighting for a way to survive amid strange beasts and the flames of war.
