The three-month Battle of Shanghai ended in the Nationalist army's bitter retreat. Japanese invaders' iron heels crushed the dreams of song and dance in the bustling foreign concessions, as rival forces clashed and competed fiercely in this prosperous metropolis, leaving the situation in turmoil. Swept up in the tides of the era, the fate of an ordinary man named Xu Tian (played by Zhang Luyi) underwent a dramatic transformation. Xu Tian was an ordinary little accountant with color blindness, but he unexpectedly became entangled in a bloody clash between the underground Communist Party and the Japanese invaders.
