Siheyuan: The Fearsome He Yuzhu Keeps the Beasts at Bay

In his previous life, He Yuzhu was sucked dry and had his marrow drained by the whole courtyard of vultures, then died a miserable death beneath a bridge.

When he opens his eyes again, he's back at sixteen! To hell with being a cook. Whoever wants to be Silly Zhu can be Silly Zhu! He entrusts his younger sister to someone he trusts and enlists in the army!

In 1960, famine strikes. Armed with a "secluded farm space" and the formidable credentials of a demobilized reconnaissance company commander, He Yuzhu returns in triumph. He becomes both head of security and canteen director, and moves into a private courtyard.

The vultures see him return home in glory, their eyes gleaming as they come to suck him dry.

He Yuzhu sneers. From the start, he buys the property outright, hires workers to build a three-meter-high wall topped with broken glass, welds shut the connecting gate, and creates an impregnable fortress! He lays down an ironclad rule: no handouts, no loans, and anyone who crosses the line gets physically put down!

Qin Huairu comes over with a sob story? He throws a bucket of slop at her! Yi Zhonghai tries to guilt-trip him? A couple of slaps will teach him how to behave!

Inside the walls, He Yuzhu marries the virtuous Yu Li and feasts on fish and meat every day, living like an immortal. Outside, the vultures smell the meat and starve with envy, fighting like dogs over a bit of cornmeal.

In this life, he simply watches coldly, enjoying the sight of the courtyard's vultures tearing each other apart until they destroy their own families!
