The Day I Ascended, My Entire Sect Became Corpses

On the day of the Ascension Ceremony, all nine thousand fellow disciples of the Tai Xuan Sect ascended, only to fall back to the mortal world as corpses. The words “Ascension Successful” were still written across their chests, but the immortal posts they had earned through a lifetime of cultivation were already being worn by the Heavenly Officials. Xie Budu, a disciple left behind to guard the bodies and with no place in the immortal register, was the only one not harvested by the Celestial Court. If he sent a Heavenly Official who had stolen an immortal post into the corresponding empty grave, he could reclaim one of the Heavenly Dao’s authorities: Keeper of Gates, Guide of Roads, Warden of Mountains, Restorer of Lifespans... Every post the Celestial Court stole meant another empty grave in the mortal world. Xie Budu would reclaim the names of his nine thousand fellow disciples, and make the lofty Celestial Court understand one thing: One post, one grave. Since there was no path to ascension in the mortal world, he would move the entire Celestial Court into a cemetery.
