Abandoned in a Snowy Wilderness in the 1970s? I Rose to Riches by Raising Pigs!

[Period Drama] [Little Lucky Charm] [Cozy Daily Life] [Help the Village Prosper] [Unconditional Love] [Face-Slapping] [Feel-Good Story]

Winter, 1971. Snow and wind fill the sky.

Zhou Lie, a retired butcher feared by everyone as the "Living King of Hell," digs a three-and-a-half-year-old girl out of a snowdrift. Her own father abandoned her.

The villagers all watch, expecting a joke: "A limping, disfigured old bachelor picks up a half-dead girl who'll only cost him money, and insists on raising a sick piglet the whole production team says won't survive. He's bound to ruin his life!"

But before long, the whole village is left speechless.

The sick pig that was nearly at death's door grows into the biggest, heaviest pig in the county by year's end!

And the scrawny little waif is spoiled by the rugged Zhou Lie until she's plump, rosy, and soft. She even becomes the luckiest little darling for miles around, bringing prosperity to her family!

It turns out that Manman was born with an affinity for all living things. A chick nearly frozen to death comes back to life, lively and alert, when she strokes its feathers. A runt lamb rejected by its mother grows strong and fat when she feeds it milk.

The father and daughter make a perfect team: she calms the young animals while he uses his practical expertise to improve their pens. Together, they go from a shabby little mud hut to building the largest modern livestock farm in the county!

Just as their lives are thriving, Manman's heartless father, who abandoned her years ago, grows jealous and shamelessly shows up to claim her and demand a share of the money.

The usually quiet Zhou Lie shields his daughter with all his might, using hard evidence and his fists to expose the scoundrel and ruin his reputation.

Manman declares in front of everyone, "He's not the Living King of Hell. He's the best dad in the whole world!"

See how, in the 1970s, a cold-faced, rugged man and his soft, adorable little girl save each other, turn their fortunes around starting with a sick pig, and lead the whole village to prosperity!
