The imperial court of Dasheng is in turmoil. The late emperor's Crown Prince was framed and killed, and Princess Wei Zhaoxu was caged deep within the palace. She appeared meek and docile, but secretly endured and plotted, waiting for a blade sharp enough to topple the old dynasty.
An imperial decree arrived, appointing the newly minted top graduate Xie Cigui as her consort. The court laughed: the Emperor had sent a frail scholar to keep the princess in check.
But no one knew that this seemingly helpless consort was actually a woman!
She was also the master of Wangchuan, the martial world's foremost assassin organization, known as Wuxiang Sheng!
Wangchuan accepted an exorbitant contract to assassinate the Emperor. Gu Cigui took the alias Xie Cigui, disguised herself as a man, and entered the court. The Princess Consort's residence was the perfect cover for her assassination. Her family's blood feud was secondary; completing the mission came first.
What began as a game of mutual exploitation slowly changed as the two spent day after day together, gradually revealing their deepest secrets to one another.
The whole world deceived Wei Zhaoxu. Only the cold blade that had come to kill the Emperor chose to stand by her side.
The princess who plays the game and the peerless Wuxiang assassin join forces to overturn the corrupt court.
The master of Wangchuan, who once killed countless people, puts away her blade and abandons the path of murder. She accompanies Wei Zhaoxu to the throne, and together they safeguard an age of peace and prosperity across the realm.
