Dream of the Red Chamber: The System Ran Away from the Start

Story Synopsis A modern office drone wakes up as Jia Xu, a fifteen-year-old collateral-line descendant of the Jia family in Ningguo House, the capital of Shengjing. His parents are long dead, and the head steward, Lai Sheng, has been stealing every last bit of his monthly allowance. He lives worse than the servants. Fortunately, though his transmigration starter pack is stingy, the System takes off as soon as it hands over the benefits, it leaves him with some formidable advantages: a pocket dimension containing thirty thousand taels of silver, a body impervious to blades and bullets with immense strength, a height of eight feet and a handsome, dashing face, plus mastery of poetry, calligraphy, martial arts, and military strategy. While other transmigrators tread carefully, Jia Xu is ruthless and hard-hearted, and he never puts off revenge. When Lai Sheng's lackeys come demanding “tea money,” he beats them out the door, searches them for every coin, and delivers an ultimatum: within three days, repay everything they've skimmed over the last three years, with interest, or he'll break a bone for every missing coin. After the young ones get beaten, the old ones are bound to make a move. Jia Xu doesn't hide or flee. He heads straight for Ningguo House. To bring down the head steward who has entrenched himself in the household for years, a lowly collateral relative needs more than fists. Silver, a pocket dimension, a handsome face, and a ruthless streak: he has all the tools he needs. Starting today, someone new is going to stir up the muddy waters of Ningguo House.
