My Name Is Wang Meiling, the Female Zhong Kui of a Private High School

Mystery + comedy + everyday warmth + horror so funny you’ll split your sides... Wang Meiling, a middle-school graduate, got a job as a dorm supervisor through her uncle, the principal. She’s 1.85 meters tall, weighs 207 jin, and goes by the nickname “Living Zhong Kui.” On night duty in the rain, blood seeped from the door of Room 404, a colleague was crushed until he could barely breathe, and someone poured urine into a liquor bottle. A ghost in a green dress floated toward me... I grabbed a plastic flyswatter. “I don’t care if you’re human or a ghost. Touch one of the kids in my building and I’ll stuff you in the septic tank!” Only later did I find out that the school had bought cheap land and built on the Lonely Spirits Shoal. My uncle, Principal Wang, said the children had enough positive energy to keep the ghosts down... But as for what actually happened... At night, there were ghosts craving liquor, ghosts shivering with cold, and ghosts singing opera... The students knew nothing and slept as usual. But Niu Dawei, a former sanda champion, and I had to sneak out and fight ghosts every night. White Peony returned at the risk of being scattered to the winds, bringing word that a great disaster would strike the school in 27 days. The black miasma in the tree hollow grew thicker by the day, and the matchmaker ghost called from the doorway in the middle of the night, “Don’t go outside, no matter what!” Li Jitao was hiding something, and Principal Wang was concealing a ghost. What exactly was buried beneath the school? Supernatural scares? Absolutely! Comedy? Plenty! Down-to-earth charm? It’s everywhere! I thought I’d get a few quiet days during break at my dad’s coffin shop... but even stranger things kept happening one after another... Remember, don’t read this in the middle of the night, or White Peony might come through the screen and sing “Jasmine Flower” to you.
