The Three-Year-Old Sweetheart Goes Tidepooling, and Fish and Shrimp Line Up to Jump into Her Net

Reborn in a small fishing village in the 1970s, three-and-a-half-year-old Xiaoyu becomes the apple of the Lin family's eye.

In an era when you had to count work points just to make sure there was enough food on the table, Xiaoyu has a special affinity with animals!

She waves her chubby little hand, and large yellow croaker line up to leap into the net. She plops down by the rocks, and giant green crabs crawl right into her bamboo basket.

Every time her father goes out to sea, he comes back with a net overflowing with fish. The whole family secretly trades seafood for ration coupons and quietly feasts on meat.

Her lazy, greedy uncle and aunt are so jealous they secretly follow Xiaoyu to the shore, hoping to steal her “secret.”

They don't learn a thing. Instead, Xiaoyu lets out a babyish squeal, and over a hundred seagulls dive down and chase the pair for a mile, pecking at them until their belts snap. They become the laughingstock of the whole production brigade!

As the eldest branch of the family prospers more and more, Xiaoyu points toward the deep sea and says in her sweet little voice, “Daddy, there are even better treasures over there...”
