Zhang Hao, a city security guard, brags to the folks back home in Erlonghu Village. To make good on his lies, he has to reinvent himself as a business genius, returning in glory with a team and a "massive investment." There he runs into his childhood sweetheart, Li Minghan, who has just graduated from graduate school and is devoted to developing her hometown and revitalizing the countryside. The two are worlds apart in their ideals, approach to work, and education. Against the distinctive backdrop of rural Northeast China, their differences produce one comic mishap after another. As the village's great hope, Zhang Hao accidentally becomes the whole village's shared target for pushing children to excel.
