Bian Yujing: What? The Players Are Helping Me Defeat the Manchus

[No Romance] [Female Lead Focuses on Her Career] [The Fourth Calamity] [Ensemble Cast from Another World] [Nation-Building and Farming] [War and Political Intrigue]

In the seventeenth year of the Chongzhen reign, Bian Yujing, utterly disillusioned, returned to Suzhou. She wanted only to finish copying one last edition of the Tao Te Ching, then become a nun.

A burst of golden light erupted from the scripture and pierced her wrist.

“The calamity that will engulf the realm is upon us. Only by summoning people from beyond the heavens can all living beings be saved.”

Forced to get to work, she recruited a group of “players” with bizarre names, who spoke in confusing ways and looked at everything with wide-eyed wonder.

She said, “This is Tiger Hill in Suzhou. Now, go explore freely.”

Then she turned and rubbed her face against her maid's shoulder. “Another one has arrived.”

Later...

The players sold fast food at the docks, set type backward at the printing shop, helped tenant farmers repair irrigation canals outside the city, and even looked into how to build a microscope using ground lenses.

Then news came that she had been captured, and Suzhou was turned upside down overnight.

The players stormed the prefectural office, locked the prefect in a woodshed, burned every contract of indenture in the city, and pushed Bian Yujing to the front. “Miss Bian, you take charge of this city.”

The gentry were hopping mad. “This is outrageous!”

The Southern Ming court slammed the table in fury. “That wicked woman is sowing chaos!”

The players cheered. “Yes! Long live the empress!”

Bian Yujing could only rub her face. “...I only posted a quest, didn't I?”
