The Daily Life of the Little Dragons' Kindergarten

On the first day of school, the doorway to Shen Wei’s classroom was jammed with kids, a complete madhouse.

Chi Rui planted his hands on his hips and declared, “The slide is mine!” Fu Hongxue clutched the block of wood he’d been working on for three years, without saying a word. Feng Douzi had already stuffed a dinosaur toy into his desk, ready to open a little shop. Before Shen Mianmian could bite anyone, he made a list of three rules with his older brother.

Shen Wei thought the hardest part of being a teacher would be preparing lessons.

Then he discovered the real challenge: getting a child who never spoke to say something; teaching a child who grabbed everything to share; helping a child who believed only in reason understand that “you have to wait until someone wants to listen.”

At the end of term, there was only one red flower, but none of the fifteen children fought over it.

Fu Hongxue rose onto his tiptoes and pinned the flower to Shen Wei’s chest.

“Teacher Shen, the red flower is yours.”

It was the first time he had ever taken the initiative to say goodbye to everyone.

And it was the first time Shen Wei understood that being remembered by fifteen children could make you want to laugh and cry at the same time.
