The Immortal Realm's Worst-Rated Courier: I Deliver Packages to the Gods

Lin Xiaobei is a legend in the delivery business: three jobs lost in three days, three complaints, and a nickname to match: “King of Bad Reviews.”

On a stormy night, he found a package outside an apartment block. It was palm-sized, wrapped in kraft paper, and tightly sealed. On the back, a line of calligraphy read: “To Taibai Jinxing at the Southern Heavenly Gate.”

A black-and-gold panel immediately appeared on his phone: “Karma Delivery System activated. First delivery: Taibai Jinxing’s horsetail whisk. Deadline: three days. Miss it, and you lose everything you own.”

His bank balance was 326 yuan and 40 cents, and he was still 1,200 yuan short on rent.

So the worst deliveryman in history hopped on his battered electric scooter, its battery at 63 percent, braved the gray mists of the Underworld’s post road, climbed all seventy-eight steps of the Heavenly Stairway, and delivered a horsetail whisk to Taibai Jinxing, who had waited two thousand years for it.

He thought he’d quit after that. Who knew another order would arrive the next day: the Matchmaker’s red thread, the Kitchen God’s grocery money, Chang’e’s refrigerated package, Sun Wukong’s fairing… The immortals’ orders grew more outrageous by the delivery.

A year later, he became the Heavenly Court’s first registered chief dispatcher, operating a bus route connecting the mortal and immortal realms. His 1,937th delivery was a letter from three thousand years in the past. The sender of his latest order was identified by just one character: “Yi.” The note read: “Find you.”

There are more than two realms beneath the Heavenly Dao. Everywhere connected by the threads of karma is within the delivery zone.

It isn’t coincidence, it’s karma. It isn’t the end, it’s the next delivery.
