The Lemons Aren’t Sweet Anymore

Lin Chuning pursued Lu Jingming for more than a hundred days.

She brought him soup, baked him cookies, and waited downstairs for him to finish work.

At last, the iceberg melted.

He said, “I'll eat whatever you make.”

But his mother said, “You're not good enough for him.”

She left behind a note and walked away.

Later, on the street, he gripped her by the throat, eyes red:

“Anyone who betrays a sincere heart deserves to swallow ten thousand needles.”

But he was the one who turned away first.

He said, “Designers who plagiarize their colleagues should be blacklisted across the whole city.”

He watched as his fiancée slapped her while she carried a tray.

He waited for her to turn back at the meeting room door.

Later, he moved into the building next to her company, pretending to be a “maintenance worker.”

At her empty desk, he ran his fingers along the rim of her cup.

He said to another man, “Pay it back for me for now.”

Too bad...

Lemons aren't sweet anymore. Their sourness lasts a lifetime.
