High school student Cha Eun-sang is a workaholic. She and her single mother depend on each other, living a bleak life. She is, in every sense, a "poor heir." Kim Tan is the heir to Empire Group, one of South Korea's leading conglomerates. Handsome and born into a prominent family, he has everything, yet he is an illegitimate son, seen as a thorn in the side of his half-brother and "exiled" to study in the United States. Eun-sang travels to America alone to find her sister, only to discover that her sister's glamorous life is all a lie. Just as her dreams fall apart, she unexpectedly meets Kim Tan.
