The Silent Relic

Sullivan is an Irish archaeologist. A graduate of the University College Dublin Department of Archaeology, she could take carbon-14 samples at twelve and spent an entire summer at fifteen in the passageways of Newgrange. She should have been digging at Celtic sites, but an organization called the “Recorders' Guild” recruited her after reading her paper, “Materials and Chronology of Medieval Relics.” The Guild has only one rule: record the truth, and never interfere. She has traveled across Europe, examining hundreds of “holy relics”... The results sent a chill down her spine: every single one was fake. The Guild then ordered her to put the truth in an archive readable only by its members, and watch as the public continued to worship counterfeits. Until a fragment of the Crown of Thorns was brought before her.
