Iron and Blood, Forging Souls in the Flames of Resistance Against Japan

Lin Xuan, the fifth young master of the Lin family in Cangzhou, steps out of his scholarly household with nothing but the fists his grandfather taught him.

He tempers his body at Huangpu, faces life and death in Songhu, and buries his brothers in Nanjing.

From the bloody meat grinder of Luodian to the great victory at Xuefeng Mountain, he goes from a carefree idler to a famed general forged in blood and iron.

His eldest brother gives away the family fortune to buy German weapons; his second brother works the political sphere to secure supplies.

His third brother defects to the enemy and becomes a traitor; his fourth sister walks the knife’s edge as an agent for the military intelligence service; his sixth sister writes manifestos in a cave dwelling in Yan’an.

Six siblings, five different paths. Eight years of war temper one man.

Zhuzi’s woodcutter’s knife has slain Japanese invaders and bears their names; Qiulan’s syringe has saved wounded soldiers and drawn their blood.

Iron is forged into steel, a man into a general, and a nation into a mountain.
