Synopsis

In the late Tang, during the Tianfu era, heavy snow blanketed Chang'an. During the Yuanhe era, a great master of the Star Dao, concerned for all living beings, could not bear the flaws in the Heavenly Dao. He tried to mend the heavens through human effort, but a single thought tore apart the flow of time through the ages, leaving a rift between heaven and earth. A century passed, bringing disasters and strange omens in endless succession. Nightmares haunted the imperial palace, and dark currents stirred beneath the land. Besieged by eunuchs at home and regional warlords from without, the Tang Dynasty moved step by step toward its end. Lu Shiyan, a boy from the mountains bearing a Daoist body destined to bring things to a close, left Lantian for the imperial capital and went into hiding at the Directorate of Astronomy. He has no peerless power of slaughter. He will not save a dynasty from collapse or reverse the rise and fall of the human world. He will not fight the eunuchs for power or compete with the warlords for profit. He has only one task: wait quietly for the right moment and close the rift through the ages that human hands tore open. The human world belongs to humankind, and the Heavenly Dao belongs to the heavens. He will not forcefully change the cycle of rebirth or impose salvation. On the snowy night when the Tang's mandate is spent, the city falls, and the nation perishes, it will be time for him to bring everything to its destined end.

Looking for a Novel

The protagonist can dream things into reality, I think. It can include the Queen from Resident Evil, the technology from The Three-Body Problem, and the Gate of Eternal Life. That’s about all I can remember.
