When the emperor of the Xiang dynasty ascended the throne, she announced news that sent shockwaves through the court and the four kingdoms and eight states: she was no man, but an empress taking the throne!

The State of Yan hurriedly withdrew its marriage proposal.

Instead, it gave the princess sent for the emperor’s marriage to the empress’s younger brother.

The accompanying procession also included several handsome men with graceful figures, gifts for the empress.

On the day the envoys entered the capital, Xie Yaoyi reclined on the imperial throne in the Golden Hall, her gaze sweeping over each handsome man as he was presented.

Only when she saw Lu Xier did her phoenix eyes, until then calm and unreadable, finally light up.

The beautiful Lu smiled seductively and headed toward her good-for-nothing younger brother.

But she had clearly come to marry her.

Seeing the beauty attempt to assassinate her younger brother... Xie Yaoyi was delighted.

From the moment Xie Yaoyi decided to seize the throne, she had never intended to be a virtuous ruler.

So at first sight of Lu Xier, she decided without a qualm that this woman would be her empress.
