Chunshen Department Store

Sheng Yunzhu, the daughter of a bankrupt silk merchant, takes a job as a salesgirl at Chunshen’s largest department store to repay her father’s debts. Every day, she keeps accounts for the ladies, picks out clothes for their daughters, and helps poor girls hide the dreams they cannot afford. Gradually, she discovers that women who enter a department store are never buying just a product. They are buying dignity, freedom, love, status, and a chance to choose a new life.
