An Autopsy to Save an Orphan: The Coroner's Wife Clears the Wronged

Shen Qingci, chief forensic physician at a national forensic medicine institute in the twenty-first century, was left with psychological scars after a medical accident and no longer dared to wield a scalpel. One day, she transmigrates into the Great Xia dynasty, becoming the daughter of a humble doctor in Qingzhou Prefecture. One day, she goes to care for Lin Xiuniang, a widow, only to find her on the brink of death. Following her instincts as a doctor, she grips her scalpel once more, performs a C-section, and saves the baby. But instead of gratitude, she faces an accusation of murder. Pei Ruijie bursts through the door, sees Shen Qingci covered in blood and the room in disarray, and immediately decides she is the killer. The villagers even plan to burn the newborn alive, calling it a “demon child.” In an instant, Shen Qingci becomes both a murderer and a madwoman who has violated sacred taboos. But she studies the blood on the corpse, the angle of the wounds, and the traces at the scene. Lin Xiuniang did not die in childbirth. She was murdered. No one understands what Shen Qingci is saying, but when irrefutable evidence is laid before the court, the prefect and people of Qingzhou are left speechless. A dead mother, the baby she left behind, a vanished killer, and a forensic physician from another era: beneath the rotting corpse, the truth is quietly taking root.
