I’ve Gone Legit, So Why Are You Cracking Down Now?

Pei Yan transmigrates back to 2006, becoming the useless young master of the Kowloon Society, a gang facing an imminent police crackdown called Operation Thunder. His father has died suddenly, rival gangs are at each other’s throats, and his unhinged fiancée is ready to go down in flames with him, wielding a Tang sword. Faced with a hopeless situation, Pei Yan pulls out a copy of the Criminal Law and slams it onto the table. “The times have changed! Fighting and killing gets you nowhere. Starting today, we’re transforming the whole company!” “Every branch leader and above must earn a CPA qualification within a year!” “Everyone at the bottom starts each morning at eight with a group reading of the Labor Law!” “Anyone who objects gets sent to the afterlife by my own hand!” Three months later, an undercover policewoman infiltrates Kowloon Society headquarters, only to find herself horrified by thousands of tattooed toughs in suits attending corporate compliance training. Three years later, multinational investors try to short Kowloon Group. The former queen of the underworld silently takes out a copy of International Commercial Law, ready to draw her blade and fight. Pei Yan pushes up his gold-rimmed glasses. “Don’t make a scene, honey. This is a civilized society. Watch how your husband bankrupts them with a perfectly legal merger.” As Wall Street magnates line up on rooftops, everyone finally realizes: these suit-wearing thugs are the ones who rule the world!
