Return to the Future: The Great Fox Chews Furiously

A fox accidentally ate a forbidden fruit and took human form amid a “rainstorm” flowing backward. She named herself Shang Shiyu and took the codename “Nine Tails,” because she firmly believed that every tuft at the end of her tail led to a completely different reality.

The Foundation regards her as an “unreliable variable,” while the Hand of Resurrection considers her “scrap that can be recycled.” Shang Shiyu simply toys with the divination dice in her hand, smiling without a care:

“Don’t be so nervous. The world is one grand illusion. The only difference is that I know it, while you... are still pretending to wake up.”

When the “rainstorm” comes again and the rhythm of time slips out of place once more, Shang Shiyu catches a hint of something unusual. There’s a performance that needs a lunatic like her in the starring role.

And she has only one demand: nobody gets to call cut.
