Yang Jianzhi first meets Gu Er at a scholarship event held by his company.

The girl is dressed in a white dress, her back straight as a pine tree standing firm in the wind.

He removes her from the promotional photos.

After the event, however, the girl boldly stops him.

“Mr. Yang, I have the best grades among all the scholarship students. Why wasn’t I included in the group photo?”

For once, Yang Jianzhi is at a loss. “I’m sorry. You’re too beautiful.”

“What’s your name?”

“Gu Er. My name is Gu Er.”

When Yang Jianzhi hears that Gu Er has gone to a bar to drink with someone, he loses control and races there.

He grabs Gu Er by the wrist. “How far are you going to go to tame me?”

Gu Er gives a soft laugh, like a spider lily blooming in the stillness.

“Mr. Yang, President Yang, what exactly are we to each other? Am I supposed to report to you every time I kiss someone or sleep with someone?”

“What are you to me?”

Gu Er turns to leave. Yang Jianzhi can’t hold back any longer. He pulls her into his arms, and a scorching kiss crashes down on her.

Gu Er’s fingers clutching his coat turn almost white. She knows she has won.

“You like me, but you’re afraid to take things further. You draw a little circle around yourself and pretend it’s enough. Tell me, aren’t you a hypocrite?”

“I am.”

Hesitation is proof of love and cherishing someone.
