A Day in the Life of the Ghost-Hunting Bureau's Slackers

Forensic examiner Si Chen transmigrates to Dayong and becomes the only senior constable in the Seventeenth Division of the Ghost-Busting Bureau. From the start, there’s a corpse of a supernatural creature, with a baby still in its belly. After delivering the baby, his superiors dump a troublesome apprentice on him... Yan Jundu has silver hair and peach-blossom eyes, and beats up anyone he sees. Neither the Prince Regent’s residence nor Henglianshan dared keep him. With a dilapidated courtyard, a life lived on credit, and a whole bunch of supernatural servants who do nothing but eat dry rations, Si Chen looks at the three taels of silver in his hand and the pile of golden pearls he can’t sell: “Whoever wants this lousy job can have it.” Later, he discovers... His apprentice is an ancestor, the cases are all part of one elaborate trap, and the mastermind is more powerful than he ever imagined. But the people of the Seventeenth Division have never been ones to slack off. The Ghost-Busting Bureau doesn’t keep layabouts. It keeps people who know how to survive. A lighthearted, funny mystery and detective story with a farming-life setting.
