I Went to an Old Friend’s Funeral, and Her Younger Sister Won’t Leave Me Alone

After learning that his old friend had died, Ji Xingyan quit his job and made a special trip to attend the funeral.

As he was about to leave and passed through the gate, someone grabbed the hem of his coat and held on tight.

“What are you doing?”

Ji Xingyan looked down at the girl, who was two heads shorter than him, and recognized her as his old friend's younger sister. Even so, he wanted nothing to do with her.

The girl said nothing. She brought out the hand she'd been hiding behind her back, holding a pink umbrella.

“Umbrella. Wait, it might rain. Please take it!”

She held the umbrella up with one hand, her mouth letting out a dry, hoarse rasp.

Ji Xingyan looked at the umbrella so close to him, then at the girl's eager gaze as she begged him to take it. He seemed to understand something, so he accepted both the umbrella and the girl.

But Ji Xingyan could never have known that the compassion he'd shown in that moment would one day bring forth the fruit of revenge!
