A Kiss of Corruption

Redemption goes both ways + school romance + devoted couples + slow burn

Yun Zhi has congenital heart disease. When she enrolls at Yongan No. 1 High School, she has just one goal: study hard, win a scholarship, pay for treatment for her brother’s disability, then find somewhere deserted and quietly die, bringing her failed life to an end. But the arrival of one boy changes her plans.

Chen Fan, hailed as Yongan’s disgrace, never expected that his spur-of-the-moment test would spiral completely out of control.

Chen Fan: “Hey, new girl, help me twist off this bottle cap.”

Yun Zhi: “Huh?”

Chen Fan: “I’ve been frail since I was little. Just think of it as showing a little concern for someone with a disability.”

Yun Zhi: “But you look perfectly normal.”

Chen Fan: “I’m brain-damaged.”

Yun Zhi: “???”

“Someone like me, once he falls in love, is like a yellow leaf on a tree in autumn. I know I’ll fall and become spring’s fertilizer, but I still can’t help taking that journey.”

“The world is so big. Why can’t it make room for one little gardenia?”

“Instead of admiring me, why not try to beat me? That might actually get my attention.”

“Life withers as the years go by, but my love for you never will.”

“At the moment the gardenia was withering, it met a captain setting sail. That was the happiest moment of its life.”

“We met in autumn, and one day we’ll meet again in autumn.”

Troubled, brooding boy x soft-hearted yet strong little fairy

(She’s gentle, but not weak, and she’ll grow stronger as the story goes on.)

(Mostly sweet, with a little angst at the beginning.)

(No misunderstandings, and they confess as soon as they reunite.)
