A down-on-his-luck feng shui apprentice takes over his family's ramshackle old bookstore and binds himself to a fragment of the incomplete Classic of Mountains and Seas. While others hunt demons, destroy evil spirits, and cultivate immortality, he makes a living working for ancient beasts, laying down the law to sinister entities, and bluffing his way through with his half-baked feng shui skills. He cracks jokes and runs errands while resolving strange supernatural incidents around the city, all the while uncovering a thousand-year-old conspiracy behind the collapse of the seals on the Classic of Mountains and Seas.
