You Took My Military Command? I'll Fake My Death and Live Off the Enemy!

Lu Yuan gave everything he had to help the Great Li Empress pacify half the realm.

After the land was at last at peace, the Empress stripped him of his military power on the grounds that his achievements threatened the throne, then planned to depose him and give him to her beloved.

Heartbroken and disillusioned, Lu Yuan set a huge fire and faked his death before leaving.

He fled to the enemy nation of Beiyong, hoping to live under an assumed name. But its bloodthirsty, unhinged empress saw through his disguise at a glance and abducted him into the palace to be her imperial husband.

Amid the many deadly dangers at the enemy court, Lu Yuan unexpectedly awakens the “Living Off the Empress System.”

As long as he accepts the empress's gifts and protection without a qualm, he can obtain divine cultivation techniques and an underground network of influence.

“Your Majesty, I'm truly useless. I'll reluctantly accept these hundred thousand soldiers and this gold.”

On the surface, he's a greedy, lecherous freeloader with no achievements, reviled by the court officials.

Behind the scenes, he builds up his troops at breakneck speed and creates an invincible force that dominates the Nine Provinces.

At last, when Great Li falls, the once high-and-mighty Great Li Empress kneels outside Beiyong's city gates, weeping as she begs Lu Yuan to return and take charge.

But the Beiyong Empress presses a map of the realm into Lu Yuan's arms and draws the Son of Heaven's Sword, laughing coldly at the sky.

“You want to steal my man?”

“Then the ten thousand miles of your Great Li lands can be a little extra spending money for my imperial husband!”
