An "accident" that sends six Gyarados on a rampage at once leads to the biggest criminal conspiracy in the Kanto region.
Ye Zhong, a retired Coordinator Trainer turned detective, is partnered with a retired police Gardevoir who refuses to trust anyone. One can read the subtle expressions of Pokemon; the other can sense emotional traces. But the truth is never found in the Pokemon themselves, only in the people who exploit them.
A Ditto impersonates someone to commit murder, a Haunter causes death in a dream, a Kakuna whose evolution has been blocked, a distress signal from the thirteenth floor of an office building... Each case is a puzzle piece, and together they reveal a shocking conspiracy called the "Origin Project": someone is systematically replicating Pokemon abilities and compiling a Shadow Pokedex that belongs in no official guidebook.
And the death of Ye Zhong's partner, who died in the line of duty three years ago, was far from as straightforward as he believed.
Super beautiful, novel subject matter
