Great Ming: From the Start, I Examined a Corpse in a Coffin

After transmigrating to the fifteenth year of the Hongwu era, modern forensic doctor Shen Yan becomes the lowest-ranking coroner in Yingtian Prefecture. From the start, he is forced to write off a Jinyiwei guard's death as an accident.

Write it, and help the murderer silence the victim.

Refuse, and his whole family will be thrown into the imperial prison.

Fortunately, Shen Yan awakens the Three Draws Case-Breaking System. He can draw up to three lots for each case, with skills, clues, and items up for grabs. The only catch is that his very first draw comes up empty!

Everyone is waiting to see him dragged off to be beheaded, but Shen Yan merely feels the corpse's hand and says, “Don't rush. This man was already dead before he fell into the water.”

He cuts open the corpse's belly, only to find four bloody words in its stomach: Poison in the Imperial Meal!

From then on, the Hongwu court has a coroner who even gives Zhu Yuanzhang a headache.

When corrupt officials claim there is no evidence once the dead are gone, he makes corpses speak in court.

When nobles insist the law cannot reach their gates, he brings the Jinyiwei to their doors with a coffin.

The entire court calls him Old Zhu's vicious attack dog, but Zhu Yuanzhang pushes the corpse of a royal relative in front of him. “Shen Yan, examine him for me. Get it wrong, and your entire clan will be executed.”

Shen Yan puts on his gloves. “Rest assured, Your Majesty. If one clan isn't enough, I'll try to make fewer mistakes.”
