After transmigrating to the Hongwu era, Su Jin becomes a member of the Embroidered Uniform Guard.

Confronted with Zhu Yuanzhang, a man who kills without batting an eye, Su Jin discovers he’s bound to an advice-taking System.

But why do these netizens’ suggestions all sound like they’re trying to get him killed?

Zhu Yuanzhang asks, “I’ve killed so many corrupt officials that heads are rolling everywhere. Am I being too cruel?”

The System issues a quest, and Su Jin posts online for help.

Netizen A: “I know this one! Tell him: Your Majesty, you haven’t killed nearly enough! You should flay them, stuff their skins with grass, and hang them outside the yamen like wind chimes!”

Su Jin grits his teeth and repeats it. The entire court is scared stiff, but Zhu Yuanzhang slams the table in approval. “At last, a kindred spirit!”

From then on, the Great Ming has an Embroidered Uniform Guard even more ruthless than the emperor.

Investigating corrupt officials? The netizens advise: “Don’t check the books. Check whether his dog is fat!”

Picking a fight with the nobles? The netizens advise: “Send Lan Yu a pig’s brain so he can make up for his own!”

Years later, standing beside the Dragon Throne, Su Jin spreads his hands helplessly. “Your Majesty, I really only wanted to slack off. They’re the ones who forced me to become a powerful minister.”
