I Faked My Death, and the Mad Empress Sent a Hundred Thousand Troops to Claim Me as Her Groom

For five years, Xie Xuanyi served the Empress of Dali, pouring his heart and soul into raising her to the throne as an emperor for the ages.

But just as the realm was finally at peace, the Empress stripped him of his military command and tried to cripple him, all for the sake of her useless first love, who could do nothing but compose poetry!

“Xie Xuanyi, your achievements threaten the throne. Leaving you alive is already a great act of mercy.”

Xie Xuanyi laughed. That night, a great fire destroyed the Marquis of Wu’s manor. The ever-calculating Marquis Xie vanished for good, leaving no body behind.

He had planned to fish, drink tea, and spend his remaining years in peace at the border. But less than seven days after faking his death, the mad Empress of Beiliang, whose army he had once routed, personally led a hundred thousand cavalry across the frontier!

She had no intention of attacking a city. She had come to have Xie Xuanyi, who was out fishing, seized in broad daylight and dragged back to her palace.

The Empress of Beiliang proclaimed to the world: “The true dragon rejected by that blind fool in Dali is mine!”

“Xie Xuanyi, the treasury of Beiliang is yours, its million cavalry are yours, and I am yours too, as long as you help me crush Dali!”

In less than three months, Dali’s treasury was emptied, its borders collapsed, and the useless first love fled with the money.

Watching her crumbling realm, the Empress of Dali descended into madness and regret.

Before the two armies, she knelt in the mud and begged desperately: “Xuanyi, I was wrong. Please come back...”

With one arm around the slender waist of the Empress of Beiliang, Xie Xuanyi replied coldly: “Loose the arrows.”
