You Were Told to Guard the Tomb, Not Become a Ghost Court Detective

After spending half a year cooped up at home, Ren Zhong’s parents kept urging him to find work. His uncle pulled strings to get him a job, and Ren Zhong ended up owing him 300,000 yuan in placement fees. He became a cemetery caretaker, but on his very first day, he made a mess of things and was forced to bind himself to the Underworld Civil Servant System. By day, he tends graves; by night, he hunts ghosts.

When a tycoon dies under mysterious circumstances and a beautiful police captain is at her wit’s end, Ren Zhong calmly points out, “He didn’t die of an illness. A hungry ghost sucked away all his yang energy. Don’t ask me how I know. That ghost tried to steal my instant noodles last night.”

When a rising star is possessed and goes berserk, biting people on set, Ren Zhong calls the underworld. “Hello, City God? One of your ghosts is causing trouble over here. Are you going to deal with it? If not, I’ll have to report this over your head!”

From then on, Ren Zhong becomes Beijing’s most mysterious “crime-solving consultant” and the underworld’s most troublesome “well-connected hire.”

Beautiful police captain: “Ren Zhong, who are you, exactly?”

Ren Zhong wipes a gravestone and sighs. “Me? Just an ordinary cemetery caretaker, moonlighting as an underworld beat cop. I’m on the official payroll, with social insurance and a housing fund.”
