After Getting a Marriage License with My Archrival Doctor, His Heartbeat Went Haywire

City Hospital has two ironclad rules: First, cardiology and cardiac surgery are sworn enemies. Second, Lin Xian and Shen Yizhou must never be alone in the same room.

As the youngest “scalpel-wielding tyrant” in cardiac surgery, Lin Xian lives by just two principles: perform the most perfect heart surgeries and keep her terminally ill older sister alive.

Then one day, Shen Yizhou, her endlessly smiling, sarcastic nemesis from cardiology, suffers a sudden bout of tachycardia after working nonstop and ends up on her examination bed.

“Dr. Shen, take off your clothes and lie down.” Lin Xian puts on medical gloves and presses her cold stethoscope to the man's burning chest. “You seem to have more fluid around your heart than water in your head.”

Shen Yizhou adjusts his gold-rimmed glasses, smiling with gentle elegance. “Dr. Lin, you're supposed to be examining me, so why are your hands shaking? Have my pecs mesmerized you?”

To put her critically ill sister at ease, Lin Xian blocks the doorway to Shen Yizhou's office with her household register. “Did you bring your household register? Let's get married. I don't need a bride price. You can take charge of my sister's hospital room.”

She thinks it will be a marriage of convenience, with each of them getting what they need.

That is, until their wedding night, when the man known as a “walking, living CT scanner” slowly undoes the buttons of his white coat with long fingers and pins her against the door. His voice low and husky, he says, “Dr. Lin, now that we're married, shouldn't you examine me and see just how fast my heart beats for you?”
