My Little Ancestor

Three years ago, by a frigid pool on the Xiliang border, she rescued an injured, unconscious stranger. Neither knew the other’s identity, and neither asked where the other came from or where they were going. For a month, they were friends who could talk about anything. For three years, he searched mountains and rivers far and wide, sending every shadowy spy he had in pursuit of the girl who had left without a word.

Three years later, the eldest princess of Xiliang came to the capital to marry into the imperial family, accompanied by a princess of the main line who was to pay her respects at the palace. On the Golden Hall, the emperor saw the face he had yearned for day and night, and his hands trembled beneath his dragon robes. With the entire court, the palace consorts, and the Xiliang envoys watching, he rushed down the steps without hesitation and swept her into his arms. Amid the horrified stares of thousands, he carried her straight to his bedchamber.

I searched for you for three years. From now on, you are my life.
