Beloved Amid the Ashes of the Inner Palace

Wen Ruanruan is the most unlikely consort in the imperial harem. She talks back to the other consorts and the empress dowager, eats whenever she is happy, and throws a fit whenever she is not. She lives like an oddball.

Everyone says she will not live long, until they see this...

The cold-faced emperor, Mo Jinyan, corners her behind a door of the Hall of Heavenly Purity and kisses her until the corners of her eyes turn red. His voice hoarse, he says, “A Ruan, let me kiss you one more time.”

He makes osmanthus cakes for her with his own hands, cancels court for her, and even personally takes on the cruel servants when she is wronged.

Only then do the consorts in the harem realize in horror that the favor they fought over was false, and the children they relied on meant nothing. The only one who truly is the emperor’s most precious treasure is Wen Ruanruan, the woman they all dismissed as a fool.

[Reading Guide: Everyone gets the ex-treatment. The male lead only pretends to be aloof and is actually a devoted guard dog; the female lead plays dumb while staying sharp. Sweet, satisfying, and angst-free from start to finish!]
