Dream of the Red Chamber: Jia Cong, the Concubine-Born Son, Wins a Title on the Frontier

After three years of training on the frontier, I return to the capital with Niu Jizong to receive my reward. The sons of the Four Princes and Eight Dukes ride along, laughing and chatting, but I know the roots of the Great Qian Dynasty have rotted away. A smiling eunuch leads the way, while the Lantian Camp waits to take charge of the border troops. The waters in the capital run far deeper than those at the frontier. Jia Cong tightens his grip on the reins. This time, I'm afraid I'll have to wade into troubled waters.
