Journey to the West: Three Monks Stare at Me and Drool

Chen Yi woke up in a ruined temple in a remote mountain in the Journey to the West, having gone three days without food and barely clinging to life on rainwater. Three monks sat around the fire, tapping wooden fish drums. They looked at him like he was a plate of braised pork. He clutched the yellowed sheet of paper. Whenever he rubbed it with his fingers, words seeped through, telling him everything that was about to happen. A headless Buddha statue protected him, but the eyes of those three things grew hungrier by the day.
