Midnight Deliveries: My Customers Aren’t Human

My name is Lin Ye. I'm 22, and I deliver food.

I owe 8,000 yuan to loan sharks. I spend my days making deliveries to pay it off, then work overtime at night delivering late-night snacks.

One night, just after midnight, I accepted an order: red bean porridge from Lao Zhou's Porridge Shop, delivered to Room 302 of the abandoned workers' dormitory on Wutong Road. The note said: Deliver promptly at midnight. Late deliveries get a bad review.

I arrived on time.

A little girl in a red dress opened the door. She looked seven or eight, with her hair in two pigtails. Her feet dangled twenty centimeters above the floor.

She said, “Big brother, I've been waiting for twenty years.”

Then a voice rang in my head:

[Yin-Yang Delivery System successfully bound. Delivery Rider No. 0007]

[Order completion reward: 5,000 yuan]

Sure enough, five thousand yuan appeared in my banking app.

I thought I'd just hit the jackpot.

That was until the next order popped up:

[Deliver a leek pastry to Uncle Zhang in morgue locker No. 3 at the Municipal Funeral Home]

Only then did I realize:

My customers might not be human at all.
