[Dystopia + cyberpunk + cyborg male lead vs. tsundere female lead + an original, utterly out-there plot you’ve never seen before]
“Everyone knows that Vik City is the future’s most respectful city toward disadvantaged groups. Here, as long as you’re more disadvantaged than the other person, you can plunder their wealth and frame them for free. So here’s the question: how do you decide who’s more disadvantaged?”
“Vik City’s genius solution is to arrange all the widely recognized markers of disadvantage into a chart, then establish a hierarchy of countering relationships based on how rare and how miserable each one is. For example, [pregnant + disabled] beats [depression + gender dysphoria] because the former has a higher barrier to entry.”
“But some attributes can be changed at any time. By removing and installing prosthetics, you can go from [amputee] to [person with a crippled leg]. By changing your personal information online, you can go from [biological male] to [biologically male, psychologically female]. So how do you decide who wins in those cases?”
“The answer is a ‘Weakling Showdown.’ Before the fight, you call the police station. The police send out a ‘handler,’ who arrives twenty minutes later and issues a ruling based on everyone’s attributes at the end. During those twenty minutes, you can do whatever you like: change yourself, or use force to overhaul your opponent. The police won’t interfere either way.”
“What? You’re asking if the handler might show favoritism? Come on, the handler is just a legal vessel. The real judge is the powered armor they wear: an absolutely impartial arbiter equipped with a mid-level AI. Like the one next to me… Sadly, for one reason or another, I just can’t deliver it.”
“Oh, right. I’m Bai Linlin, an intelligent machinery engineer. You want to place an order? Sure. Where should we start?”
The man-machine male protagonist turns out to be a human-machine in a complete sense 🤦
