Peng Yifan, an ordinary young man from Earth, unexpectedly obtains the "Space Master System" and gains godlike powers over space. He thinks he can finally reach the pinnacle of life, only for the System to tell him that he must travel through different Hong Kong crime-film worlds and repair the villains whose characters have been broken. Under the influence of some unknown force, these villains have become extremely unstable and are destroying the balance of their worlds.
In the first world, he faces a Hong Kong crime-film boss who was once sharp and composed, but has become violently deranged. "This isn't right. According to the original characterization, he should be a calculating, farsighted mastermind. How did he turn into a reckless idiot?" Peng Yifan soon discovers that a mysterious organization called the "Character Destroyers" is behind these broken villains. Using some unknown method, they twist the very nature of characters in an attempt to devour the power of entire worlds.
Peng Yifan must not only repair each world's story, but also track down this mysterious organization. Whenever he uses his spatial confinement ability to subdue a broken villain, he discovers traces of a strange black energy. These clues point to a shocking truth: every Hong Kong crime-film world is being systematically corrupted by some entity.
As he travels through multiple worlds, Peng Yifan finds that his spatial abilities keep evolving: from confinement and teleportation at first, to folding space and creating independent planes. The mysterious organization's true goal, it turns out, is to merge all the Hong Kong crime-film worlds into a chaotic "Chaos Universe."
