I Asked You to Commute, Not Light Up the Galaxy

[Urban] [Evolution] [Comedy] [Talent Copying] [Sci-Fi] [The Rise of Civilization] [No Saintly Protagonist]

Chen Lei discovered that he had awakened a ridiculous ability: as long as his skin touched someone else, he could distill their strongest field into a talent and copy it for himself.

One talent isn’t enough?

What about a million?

For other people, cramming onto the subway for work is misery. For Chen Lei, it’s evolution.

During the morning rush on Beijing Subway Line 1, one train carries three thousand people. Ten round trips later, he’s gained thirty thousand talents.

Time to change cities!

Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu... hundreds of thousands, millions, hundreds of millions of passengers. He turns the entire country’s subway network into his personal pool of experience.

A parkour expert’s balance, a surgeon’s steady hands, a pianist’s nimble fingers, a math professor’s logical thinking... When all these talents stack up in one person, Chen Lei realizes he’s no longer human.

Yet the path of evolution has no end.

When human talents can no longer fuel his growth, he uses himself as a model to develop an enhancement serum, setting ordinary people on the path of evolution.

Copy the talents of evolved humans -> evolve again -> develop a stronger serum -> evolve everyone.

A positive feedback loop for human civilization begins to spin wildly.

And when humanity looks up at the stars, it discovers that countless civilizations have long been flourishing across the vast universe.

“No matter.”

Chen Lei glances at the vast steel tide of evolved humans behind him, the corners of his mouth lifting.

“We may have arrived late, but we’ll be the brightest bloom of all.”
