She Was My Father's Final Trust

Lin Xiaobei's parents divorced when he was eight. When he was ten, his stepmother, Liu Huifang, gave him his first taste of a mother's love. But happiness didn't last. His biological father died in an accident, and his stepmother took him with her when she remarried. At fifteen, she passed away, leaving him with only his stepfather to rely on.

When Xiaobei was eighteen, his stepfather brought home Su Wan, a twenty-year-old orphan. They were not related by blood and had no family ties; they were simply two unfortunate children trying to get by under the same roof. The villagers gossiped endlessly. Two years later, his stepfather also passed away, leaving twenty-one-year-old Xiaobei and twenty-year-old Su Wan staring at each other in a vast, empty home.

In the face of all the rumors, Xiaobei stood in front of Su Wan and said, “She's one of my family. No one gets to bully her.”

To escape the gossip, they left their hometown for a big city to make a living. From running a street stall to starting a company, from comforting each other to falling deeply in love, two souls with no one else to rely on became each other's only light in a strange land.

Later, they had twins, a boy and a girl, and built a home of their own. Only then did Xiaobei understand: fate had put him through so many hardships so he could learn how to be a good husband and father.
