I Became the Wicked Stepmother, and Now Three Little Villains Won’t Leave My Side

Lin Wantang wakes up one day in ancient times, as the neglected second wife of the Shen family.

Her predecessor mistreated the three stepsons left behind by the first wife: the six-year-old eldest, quiet and precocious; the five-year-old second son, stubborn and short-tempered; and the three-year-old youngest, a timid crybaby. According to the original story, these three children will grow up to become ruthless villains, and her fate as their wicked stepmother will be no better.

The good news is that she arrived early enough to change things.

The bad news is that she has no System, no pocket dimension, and no golden finger, just a head full of modern early-childhood education knowledge and a heart willing to treat them well.

At first, the three little boys are wary and defensive. They throw their food boxes and shut her outside. Later, they begin watching her in secret, quietly accepting her, and even standing up for her. The eldest shields her from the harassment of awful relatives, the second slips into her hand the candy he has been saving for ages, and the youngest wakes from a nightmare in the middle of the night, crying for “Mama.”

With a bowl of rice porridge, a little jacket, a story, and a hug on a rainy night, she slowly mends the broken childhoods of all three boys.

The male lead, Shen Zhao, is away from home most of the year. By the time he finally finishes his work and returns, he discovers that his three sons have become their mother’s biggest supporters, and he has even been squeezed to the outer edge of the bed.

“Dad, go sleep over there. That spot next to Mom is mine.”

This is a heartwarming story about healing childhood trauma through the small moments of everyday life. There are no epic household battles or miraculous reversals of fate with a System, just one person willing to love wholeheartedly, and three children slowly learning to accept that love.
